Itinerary
DAY 1: Cusco – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake – Full Day.
Hiking time: Approximately 3 hours (including lunch en route).
Hike and Terrain: Hiking, long trails, steep terrain.
This adventure starts very early, exactly 5 in the morning, we will pick you up at your respective hotel and transfer to Soraypampa 3850 masl.
First stop: Tarawasi – The archaeological complex of Tarawasi is located in the district of Limatambo, province of Anta (Cusco region) and therefore we will visit its ruins, the trip takes an average of an hour and a half from Cusco. Its name comes from two words, which would be: (Tara) which means “bush” and the second is (Wasi) which means “house”.
It is said that the Inca Pachacuteq would have built this complex during his reign, and because of its structure it is said that it was a ceremonial center.
After visiting Tarawasi, we head to the town of Mollepata to enjoy a delicious breakfast and continue on our way to Soraypampa.
In Soraypampa we start our hike to the Humantay lagoon (4200 masl), so we can appreciate the view of the impressive Apus Salcantay and Humantay (Apus are the spirits of the mountains).
The hike to the Humantay lagoon takes about an hour and a half, do not worry it is an easy hike and if you are not willing to walk because you expected a trip without much effort you can rent a horse and ride.
We will enjoy the place, we will take pictures and also offer an offering to the Apus, concluding our experience we will start our descent to Soraypampa but this is easier because the road is downhill, when we arrive we will have lunch and take a short break to return to Cusco.
