This day hike takes us on a trail full of life and breathtaking views. We will visit beautiful Inca sites, see a great variety of flora and fauna and be able to see the Andes Mountains. Covering 16 km of the trail, our journey begins in the Sacred Valley and climbs up an original Inca trail to the Inca site of Wiñay Wayna (forever young), before continuing on to Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate (Inti Punku).
Along the way, if we are lucky we may see some larger mammals such as Vizcachas (Chinchillas similar to rabbits) and Spectacled Bears.
After a full day on the Inca Trail, we will arrive at the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) at noon and have a view of Machu Picchu. It is a perfect moment to take some pictures. After passing through the Sun Gate, we will continue our last leg of the Inca Trail that takes us to the Inca city of Machupicchu. “Here we will have some free time.
Arriving at Machu Picchu we will start a guided tour of the Inca City; You will learn a lot about the Incas and visit all the most important areas of the citadel.
Concluding our tour we will return to Cusco: We will descend by Aguas Calientes by bus (included) to board the train to Ollantaytambo where you will meet our private van and will be transferred to your hotel in Cusco arriving around 10:30 pm “the time may vary according to the train schedule”.
The total length of the Inca Trail (Qhapaq Ñan) is more than 30,000 kilometers, but the main route (approximately 5,200 km long).
