MACHU PICCHU BY TRAIN ITINERARY
Day 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Machu Piccchu – Aguas Calientes – Cusco
NOTE: Please note that most of our Machu Picchu by train 1-day tours depart from Cusco at 03:00 am in the morning. However, if you prefer a later departure time, we can arrange that for you as well.
Your adventure begins with a 03:00 am pickup, followed by a 1.5-hour drive to the picturesque village of Ollantaytambo, nestled in the Sacred Valley. From there, we’ll embark on a scenic train journey to Aguas Calientes. The train ride itself offers breathtaking views, following the course of the Urubamba River downstream through the Sacred Valley. You’ll arrive in Aguas Calientes at 06:40 am and then take a 30-minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu.
Upon passing the Mapi checkpoint, your guide will lead you to the Guardhouse, where you can capture a postcard-perfect shot of Machu Picchu. You’ll then embark on a 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, during which you’ll delve into the history of the Inca civilization and explore all the key highlights, including the Sun Temple, the Temple of Three Windows, the Inca’s House, the Main Plaza, Wayrana, the Sacred Rock, and more.
After your captivating visit to the citadel, you’ll descend by bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch. Later, at 02:55 pm, you’ll board the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a private van transfer to Cusco. We will ensure you’re back at your hotel by 07:00 pm.
