Machu Picchu Sacred Valley Itinerary
Day 1: Sacred Valley Exploration
The Sacred Valley is a vast region teeming with tourist attractions, so to make the most of your visit, we offer two options. Both options commence at 7:00 am, starting from your hotel in Cusco. Please choose your preferred option:
Pisac Route (Alpaca Farm, Pisac Ruins, Pisac Market, and Ollantaytambo)
We will pick you up from your Cusco hotel at 7:00 am for your Machu Picchu & Sacred Valley tour. Our journey begins by heading to Pisac. During this option, we will explore four main sites: Awana Cancha (home to Alpacas, Llamas, Vicuña, and Huanacos), the Pisac Archaeological site, the Pisac Market, and the Ollantaytambo Archaeological site. We’ll pause for lunch in Urubamba and, after the meal, you have the option to visit a brewery. Following that, we proceed to the Ollantaytambo Archaeological center. At the end of the day, we board the train to Aguas Calientes at either 03:37 pm or 07:30 pm, depending on availability. Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes, we check in at our hotel, enjoy dinner, and spend the night.
Day 2: Machu Picchu
Day two is the most enchanting as we journey to Machu Picchu. We rise early to catch the first bus to Machu Picchu, witnessing the sunrise over this ancient wonder.
Your guide will lead a comprehensive two-hour tour of the Machu Picchu highlights. Afterward, you’ll have free time to explore the ruins at your leisure and optionally hike Huayna Picchu Mountain if you’ve purchased this ticket ($65 per person). Finally, we return to Aguas Calientes, take a train back to Ollantaytambo, and then a bus back to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, we’ll transfer you back to your hotel.

- If you have a Machu Picchu + Machu Picchu Mountain ticket, start by hiking the mountain before the guided tour.
- Exercise caution when taking selfies or jumping photos, as these activities are the primary causes of accidents in the mountains.

Machu Picchu Weather
Weather conditions in the Andes are highly variable. The dry season at Machu Picchu typically runs from April to October, while the rainy season occurs from November through March. However, it’s important to note that rain can occur during the dry season, and sunny periods can happen in the rainy season. Therefore, it’s advisable to be ready for any weather. Regardless of the season, it’s recommended to have rain gear, including a rain jacket, rain pants, and a rain poncho. Additionally, it’s common to experience all four seasons in a single day, so dressing in layers is essential as it allows for easy adjustments to varying temperatures.
Accommodation Options
For the duration of the Sacred Valley Machu Picchu 2-day tour, solo travelers will be matched with a fellow traveler of the same gender to share a hotel room, while couples will enjoy the privacy of their own room. Should you desire a solitary room exclusively for yourself, you have the option to upgrade for an additional $45.

Toilets
Unfortunately, there are no restrooms or food stalls available inside Machu Picchu. We recommend using the restroom located just inside the entrance before entering the site, which costs two soles.
Mistake
In case of cloudy or rainy weather, once you leave the main viewpoint where the classic photos are taken and begin your tour of Machu Picchu, you will not be able to return later if the weather improves. Please note that once you are on the trail, there are watchmen with whistles who make sure that visitors follow the designated circuit, leaving no room to turn back.
Food and Water
Regarding food and water, it’s advisable to bring your own supplies. While the ticket states that eating within the site is not allowed, you can carry a discreet, small snack with you. Of course, it’s crucial not to litter. Additionally, please bring your water in reusable flasks or canteens, as Machu Picchu is committed to reducing the use of single-use plastic bottles.
Strikes
Strikes and roadblocks are common occurrences in Peru and may impact our Machu Picchu day tours and rail services to and from Machu Picchu. We will make every effort to ensure that your Machu Picchu private tour by train proceeds as planned, with some necessary adjustments.
In the event of a strike occurring on the day of your Machu Picchu 1-day tour, we will transfer you to Aguas Calientes town on the evening before your scheduled start date. You will visit Machu Picchu as originally planned. After your visit to the Inca Ruins, you will be required to undertake an additional 3-hour hike from Aguas Calientes to Hydroelectric. From there, we will drive for approximately 7 hours to return to Cusco. You can expect to be dropped off at your hotel around 11:00 pm.
