RAINBOW MOUNTAIN 2 DAY TREK ITINERARY
Day 1: Cusco – Alqatari – Ausangate -Ananta
We’ll begin your Rainbow Mountain 2 Day Trek with a hotel pick-up at 04:00 am, followed by a scenic 3-hour drive to Alqatari. Here, our professional chef will prepare a hearty breakfast to fuel your day. As we embark on our high-altitude adventure in the morning, you’ll pass by local houses, verdant pampas, and countless llamas and alpacas.
Our ultimate destination is Pucacocha Pass, offering a breathtaking vista of the Ausangate glacier, which stands as the highest peak in Cusco at 6,370 meters (20,000 feet). After taking in the glacier’s beauty and the colorful tarns, we’ll descend to our campsite. Here, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch in our rustic stone and mud dining room.
As the sun sets, our staff will set up tents inside our mountain huts, giving you the opportunity to relax and perhaps even engage in a game of soccer at an impressive altitude of 4,700 meters (15,200 feet). Meanwhile, our private cook will be busy preparing a delectable dinner. Don’t miss the chance to stargaze and witness the awe-inspiring southern constellations lighting up the night sky.
Day 2: Ananta – Warmi Saya – Rainbow Mountain- Cusco
Today is the day you’ve eagerly anticipated – the highlight of your journey. We’ll rouse you at 03:30 am with a warm cup of coca tea or coffee delivered right to your tent. A hearty breakfast will follow, providing the energy needed for your initial ascent to Warmi Saya Pass, standing at 5,150 meters (16,963 feet) above sea level.
From there, we’ll descend to the serene circle lake and traverse along the shores of two lakes, eventually arriving at the breathtaking Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountains. Here, you’ll have ample time to capture the stunning vistas in photographs, explore the terrain with the guidance of your local expert, and truly immerse yourself in the vibrant mountain scenery.
The return hike will take approximately two hours, leading us to a triumphant celebration of our successful journey and a delightful lunch. Subsequently, we’ll make our way back to Cusco, a journey of about 3.5 hours, with an estimated arrival time of 3 pm.
