Itinerary Short Inca Trail 2 Days

First Day: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – KM 104 – Machu Picchu Pueblo

On day 1 in the morning, we pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to continue by bus to Ollantaytambo train station for 2 hours, where you take the excursion train to Km-104 which is the starting point of the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

At Km-104 or Chachabamba is located the first checkpoint of the 2-day Inca Trail where the control is very strict and all Inca Trail hikers must show their passports.

The hike begins in Chachabamba. Along the hike, you will get to see impressive Inca ruins, high single flora, incredible mountains, and the legendary trail that leads you to the magical place of the Sun Gate.

Sungate is an iconic and breathtaking place! Why? Because you have the first viewpoint of Machu Picchu and in the afternoon you reach the citadel on foot.
After enjoying Machu Picchu and the Short Inca Trail, you take the bus from the Machu Picchu site to Machu Picchu Pueblo, the village where you spend the night!

Day 2: Machu Picchu Pueblo – Machu Picchu Citadel – Ollantaytambo – Cusco

Today, you explore the city of your dreams, “Machu Picchu”. The guided tour in the citadel of Machu Picchu lasts more than 2 hours; where you will discover the most important temples of the Inca site.

The Inca Trail tours end in Machu Picchu and are guided on the second day in the morning, once you explore “One of the seven wonders of the world”, you have to return back to Machu Picchu Pueblo by bus.

All our Inca Trail hikers have lunch in this village and after lunch, they return by train (Machu Picchu to Ollantaytambo), then by bus from Ollantaytambo to Cusco.
