INCA TRAIL 4 DAYS TO MACHU PICCHU ITINERARY

Day 1

Cusco – Km 82 – Ayapata

Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. After a scenic drive to Km 82, the official starting point of the Inca Trail, you will begin your hike along the Urubamba River.

During the day, you will visit your first Inca sites and gradually ascend through beautiful valleys. After approximately 6–7 hours of trekking, you will arrive at Ayapata campsite, where you will enjoy dinner and rest.

Day 2

Ayapata – Dead Woman’s Pass – Chaquicocha

This is the most challenging day of the trek. After breakfast, you will hike up to Dead Woman’s Pass (4,215 m), the highest point of the trail.

From the summit, you will enjoy spectacular views before descending into the valley for lunch. In the afternoon, you will continue to Chaquicocha campsite, surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

Day 3

Chaquicocha – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñay Wayna

This is the most scenic day of the trek. You will walk along original Inca stone paths and explore impressive archaeological sites such as Phuyupatamarca.

The trail continues through cloud forest landscapes until reaching Wiñay Wayna, one of the most beautiful Inca sites on the route. You will camp nearby for your final night.

Day 4

Wiñay Wayna – Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco

On the final day, you will wake up early and hike to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where you will get your first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu.

After a guided tour of the citadel, you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, followed by a train to Ollantaytambo and private transport back to Cusco.
