Afterward, the journey continues to Soraypampa (around 3,900 m), the starting point of the trek. From here, you will begin a gentle hike to acclimate your body while surrounded by impressive mountain scenery. In the afternoon, you will hike uphill to the stunning Humantay Lake, a turquoise glacial lake located at the base of the Humantay Mountain.

After enjoying the views and taking photographs, you will return to the campsite at Soraypampa, where you will have dinner and spend the night under a sky full of stars.

Day 2

Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Huayracmachay – Chaullay

After breakfast, the trek continues through the lush cloud forest. This section of the trail is warmer and filled with vibrant vegetation, rivers, and waterfalls. You will walk through small local communities and agricultural areas where coffee, fruits, and avocados are cultivated.

You will pass through Collpapampa and continue toward La Playa, where you will enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, the hike continues to Lucmabamba, your campsite for the night.

This day is considered more relaxed and allows you to fully enjoy the changing ecosystem and the cultural interaction with local families.

Day 3

Along the way, you will be surrounded by breathtaking views of the snow-capped Salkantay Mountain, one of the most sacred peaks in Inca culture. Upon reaching the summit, you will have time to rest, take photos, and appreciate the dramatic landscape.

From here, the trek continues downhill toward Huayracmachay, where you will have lunch. In the afternoon, you will descend into a greener and warmer valley, marking the transition from high Andes to cloud forest. Overnight in Chaullay.
