Day 1

Cusco – Km 82 – Llactapata – Ayapata

Your adventure begins very early in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. You will travel by comfortable transport through the Sacred Valley to Km 82, the official starting point of the legendary Inca Trail.

After passing the control checkpoint, you will begin your hike along the Urubamba River, surrounded by impressive Andean landscapes and agricultural terraces. Along the way, you will visit the archaeological site of Llactapata, where your guide will introduce you to the first insights of Inca history and engineering.

The trail gradually ascends through lush valleys until reaching Ayapata campsite, where you will enjoy a freshly prepared dinner and your first night under the stars.

Day 2

Ayapata – Dead Woman's Pass – Pacaymayo

This is the most physically demanding day of the trek, but also one of the most rewarding. After an early breakfast, you will begin a steady ascent toward Dead Woman’s Pass (4,215 m / 13,828 ft), the highest point of the entire route.

As you climb, the landscape transforms dramatically, offering panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and deep valleys. Reaching the summit is a true achievement and a perfect moment for photos and rest.

From there, you will descend into the Pacaymayo Valley, where you will camp surrounded by towering mountains and peaceful scenery.

Day 3

Pacaymayo – Runkurakay – Sayacmarca – Chaquicocha

After breakfast, you will start a fascinating day full of history and diverse ecosystems. The first stop is Runkurakay, a circular Inca structure believed to have served as a control point.

You will then cross the second pass and continue toward Sayacmarca, a beautifully preserved site perched dramatically on a mountain ridge.

The trail continues through cloud forest, where you will encounter exotic flora, orchids, and possibly wildlife. The day ends at Chaquicocha campsite, offering spectacular sunset views over the Andes.

Day 4

Chaquicocha – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñay Wayna

You will visit Phuyupatamarca, known as the “City in the Clouds,” an impressive archaeological complex with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys.

Day 5

Wiñay Wayna – Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco
